Spring Rates

This information is presented as a guide to the springs on 62-67 Chevy II vehicles.  I am in no way responsible for the accuracy of this information.  I am simply passing along very helpful information!

***Full Credit for this information goes to Dave Staley and John Piccolla***

This text is verbatim by Dave Staley!

The following are the spring rates for various 62-67 front coil and rear mono leaf springs. The springs can be identified by either the color of paint on the front spring eye on the mono leafs or splashed along the side of the coils. The part numbers can be used if the spring tag is still intact (very possible with front springs but highly unlikely on the rear springs). The information was compiled from various Chevrolet and Acadian parts books from 1962 through the 70s. The different books make accuracy questionable as part numbers are superceded and discontinued, furthermore, different manuals list the notes differently. The list was also compiled with assistance from John Piccolla. Actual application listing is from experience taking these cars apart, from the Chevrolet parts manuals and good guesses. The manuals break down the different spring applications by year, model and equipment (194 vs 283 vs 327, AC vs non-AC, vert, wgn etc). If you have different information or questions please let me know so I can update this list. It is by no means the definitive list of rates and applications so updates are very welcome.
